Hi.

I'm Sara. I'm on a quest for thrifty and creative home-making and hope I can inspire you join me.

Welcome To The Project...

Welcome To The Project...

...actually that sounds a bit sinister doesn't it. No, I'm not inviting you into a secret cult where we all wear white overalls. It's just lil' old me, Sara, Manchester Mum of two and serial maker of things.👋

I called it the make project because every time something needs doing in our house or we need to buy something it becomes a 'project'. I set off on a process of asking myself (and then Almighty Google) "Can I do that myself? On a budget? Make it personal? Find something that suits exactly what we need? Fake it? Hack it? Make it?". I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one either.

Why bother? Well it's partly because saving money whilst still being able to have nice things to make our home makes me happy (and having expensive things is just too anxiety-inducing with two mini whirlwinds in the house) but most of all I do it because I enjoy it. It is so satisfying (unless it goes wrong, in which case we don't talk about it).

"I'm not crafty or creative", I hear some of you cry. Well everyone can do something, and there is something you can do (if you want to that is!), sometimes it's just knowing where to look. I've already spent alot of time looking, so I'm hoping to share some great DIY home projects and tips that I've seen from others and done myself. As well I'll be highlighting some of the great workshops and courses where you can invest in the skills to make things for your own home in Manchester and the surrounding area.

I would love to see the things you have made in your home where you've been inspired to do-it-yourself too. If you fancy sharing then follow me on social media (links at bottom of the page) and hashtag your photos #mymakeproject. Go make stuff✌️
